Welcome to Kid Pitch
Division!
The Kid Pitch Division is played with a regulation hard baseball and designed for boys and
girls ages 8 & 9. A player's "League Age" is their age as of April 30. 10 year old players with no baseball experience will probably feel more comfortable beginning here, and
advanced 7 year olds will be eligible if they have previously played in the lower divisions and have gained some experience.
All players registering for Kid Pitch will go through an Assessment process. This process is designed to
allow coaches the ability to evaluate all the players in the division and then draft a balanced team. ALL Kid Pitch players will attend an assessment in Early to
Mid February. Kid Pitch teams are reassigned each year
so if you were on a Kid Pitch team last year you will go through the assessment process again this year and will not necessarily be on the same team as last year.
The Kid Pitch Division is considered one of the "minor" divisions or a division used as an
instructional and training division. It is more competitive than COACH PITCH and less so than MINORS. In this Division, kids will pitch to players on the opposing team. Scorebooks
will be kept and parent umpires will officiate, but no "official" records are kept.
League provided Jerseys and hats are provided as part of your registration fee. Players must
provide their own baseball mitt. As the Kid Pitch Division plays with a hard ball, protective gear must be worn at all times. The Kid Pitch teams will start practice in mid-March
and the season will end around the second week of June. Practices and games will generally be weekday evenings and/or on
Saturday and will be held at Shoreline School District schools or City park fields.
Parents, please consider volunteering for your team or for any position in Richmond Little
League. We are a 100% volunteer organization and we welcome and encourage your participation at any level. Thank you!!
